Last hundred years is often called a ‘century of wars’. Polish and British soldiers fought arm to arm on many fronts and in many battles. Their cooperation and bravery helped to win with the most mortal ideology – fascism. This alliance was never forgotten. On both sides of the iron curtain our nations remembered about their partners. Britain honored Polish airmen and Polish people never forgot SOE support during the occupation. Communist propaganda never wiped out our memory. Today Polish and British soldiers still fights on the same battlefronts. A decade ago they helped to liberate Iraq, currently they are present in Afghanistan and Africa. Also they are involved in many UN peace keeping operations. This web site shows both nations alliance during the most difficult days. It is tribute to those who payed ultimate price and sacrificed the best years of their lives. It also shows appreciation to many who physically came back to their families but in their minds fought their wars to the very last day of their lives.

ORP Blyskawica

In 1935 Polish Navy bought two ships in JS shipyard in Cowes. Their names were ORP Blyskawica and ORP Grom (Lightning and Thunder). Those days they were fastest and destroyers of the world. They also were the most heavily armed in the world for that class. Both ships could also take another missions like submarine chasers.

Operation Market Garden

Operation Market Garden was the biggest airborne operation in human history. When I think about it I always take two perspectives: strategic and tactical.

On the strategic level it was spectacular disaster. Many books, movies and documentaries have been created describing all possible aspects of this operation. Basically the Idea was to capture few bridges along the one road. This would open the way to the industrial heart of the Germany, Ruhr.

Ultra Project

Ultra Project

Bletchley Park is a site where Ultra project took place. 80 km north-west from London thousands of cryptologist was working to beake Enigma codes providing cruicial intelligence which helped allies to win the war.

What is Polish input? Well, beginning of Ultra project is end of Polish longstanding supremacy in breaking codes in central Europe. First time Polish mathematicians broke Enigma codes was in 1932. This text must have three names: Marian Rejewski, Henryk Zygalski and Jerzy Rozycki.

Alice Frame

Alice frame

This week I completed my work with previously bought Alice frame. It took month to deliver this little wonder from across the pond. But this time is worth to wait.

What is Alice frame? Well, it is part of old but trusted American backpack. It’s beauty comes from it’s simplicity. Primitive aluminium frame with two straps and kidney belt. That’s it. But with a little work it become very good training aid which will save a lot of beasting to my Berghaus Vulcan. Yes, I know, you should train as will be fighting, but on the other hand, who wants’ to sacrifice one of the most expensive pieces of the equipment before actual event start? That’s why I decided to invest some money in simple Alice frame and upgrade it to my training needs.
